M. (Col) Colson, at the Weiser hospital, Monday morning was a great shock to this section of the country, altho it was generally known that death might be expected. Mr. Colson has been long afflicted with cancer, which ultimately caused his death. The deceased was a man highly esteemed by everyone -- a good neighbor, a generous and true friend at all times. Anthony Mason Colson was born July 8, 1858. When but a mere lad of 11 years, he came into Salubria Valley and has been a well-known figure thruout this section ever since. He was the first candidate initiated into the local Odd Fellows lodge and was a member till his death, the impressive Odd Fellow burial service being read at the grave. Surviving are one son, Charles, of Estacada, Ore., two sisters, Mrs. Geo York of Salem, Ore., and Mrs. Mary Denney, and a brother, Frank, both of Midvale. The remains were laid to rest in the Salubria cemetery Wednesday, following services held at the Baptist church, conducted by Rev. Lee of the Weiser Methodist church.
