J. E. DONART PASSES
 
Altogether not unexpected, the death of J. E. (Doc) Donart came as a shock to 
relatives and his many friends on Monday of this week.
 
In the passing of Mr. Donart this community loses one who has been a faithful 
friend and brother and one who has given the best of life to help build a 
citizenship in what was, at the time of his coming, almost a wilderness.
 
One by one those who braved the dangers of pioneering are called to their 
reward, but to those of us who remain is left the influence of their lives in 
hardihood honesty and perseverance.
 
J. E. Donart was born at Ethica, Michigan in 1859.  In early childhood he 
moved to Maltoon, Ill.  On Sept 6, 1866 he left Illinois and moved to Fall 
River, Kansas.  On the 12th day of May 1880 he started for the west and the 
second day of  Sept. settled in Salubria.
 
He was joined in the holy bonds of Matrimony to Miss Mary Isabelle Keenan Jan. 
1, 1888.  Three children were born of this union.  They are; George of Weiser, 
Charles S. of Caldwell and Cathryn S. of Portland.
 
The deceased lived on his ranch from the time of settling until two and a half 
years ago when he and his good wife moved to their home in Cambridge.  His 
life speaks for itself.  He was a kind and unselfish husband, father and 
neighbor.  At death he was past 64 years of age.
 
The many friends testify to his worth of character.
