Gillispie January 1, 1957-Aug. 22, 2003 On Friday, the 22nd of August, the community of Weiser, Idaho, lost one of her beloved sons, Curt Gillispie. Born on January 1st, 1957, in Ontario, Oregon, his heart would never drift far from the banks of the Snake River. In his days, he would see sights of places that many of us could only dream of, yet he remained true to the small border town of Weiser. He was a warrior of the highways, astride a Harley Davidson, and traveled the roads throughout the United States to include Washington, D. C., Nevada, Arizona, California, Wyoming, South Dakota, Washington, Oregon and Idaho. Those who were close to Curt will never forget his trademark laughter and smile. He loved making rounds about the community and enjoying the company of friends and family over coffee. Even outside of Weiser, he never forgot from where he came and took that community spirit with him. Even in towns of hurry and bustle he would smile from ear to ear and wave at a passing car. "Who was that?" we would ask. "I don't know, but they waved back," Curt would reply. Making wherever he went just a little bit brighter. He was a saint, a trickster, an uncle, a son, a brother, a husband and a friend. He was a great man that embodied the true spirit of Americana, hope, destine, community, brotherhood, laughter and love. A pure soul, which we could only hope to aspire to the happiness and generosity he passed to everyone he touched. We miss you Curt. His wife, Barbara Gillispie, survives him. May the laughter they shared forever echo in our hearts. Curt and Barbara were married on Jan. 25, 1982 and no two people could have been more perfectly matched. As he would take to the air and freefall, Barbara would learn the powered parachute. Then as Curt traversed terrain on his motorcycle, Barbara would soon join his side on the road. They worked, lived, loved and laughed together. In spirit, may they never part.
