DEATH CLAIMS PIONEER
 
Bertha Margaretta Buhl was born in Denmark in September, 1854, coming to the 
United States with her parents in 1854.  They settled at first in the 
territory of Utah, going to the Payette Valley in 1868.  The Buhls were the 
fifth white family in the Valley.
 
In August, 1870, the deceased was married to John Holms who died in 1878.  Two 
children were born of this union, Julia who died in infancy, and Anna who was 
married to Alvin Lamb and is now living in California.
 
In 1880 Mrs. Holmes married Victor Haller, who preceded her, passing on in 
Nov. 1900.  Two children were born of this union also, Mrs. Rose Jones and 
Mrs. Violet Lavendar, both of this place.
 
October 29, 1924, at 10:15 p. m. Mrs. Haller passed away.  From childhood she 
was a member of the Lutheran church, was a good mother and an honored member 
of the community.
 
Besides her children Mrs. Haller leaves two brothers, Thomas and Nelson Buhl, 
known to all in the community.  There are also nine grandchildren, Mrs. May 
Collins and Grace Lavendar of this place, one in Oregon and others in 
California; also two nieces, Mrs. Pete Roberts of Weiser and Mrs. Hoffstatter.
 
The funeral services were held Sunday at 2 p. m. in the Baptist church and 
interment in the Salubria cemetery.

We wish to express our sincere thanks to our neighbors and friends also the 
Rebekahs, for their sympathy and help during the illness and death of our 
mother and sister.  Also for the beautiful floral offerings.
