The funeral was conducted from the family residence on Monday, Sept. 8th, Rev. J. Spencer McCain, officiating. Her remains were escorted to the Salubria cemetery by a large procession of relatives and neighbors, where the interment took place. Eliza Ann White was born near Pittsburg, Pa., August 15, 1827, and lived in and near Pittsburg until about her 15th year, when she moved with her father's family to Columbus county, Iowa, in 1842. She was married to James D. Hoffstatter December 29, 1844, and resided in Iowa until May 12, 1864, when she moved to Walla Walla, Wash., where she resided until 1874. She was the mother of eight children, three girls and five boys. She leaves a husband and six children to mourn her loss. Milton D. Hoffstatter of North Yamhill, Or., George Hoffstatter of Cambridge, Idaho, Mrs. Josephine Moore of Walla Walla, Wash., Mrs. Laura E. Moore of Prescott, Wash., Mrs. Rosa E. Moffett of Malheur, Or., Frank Hoffstatter of Baker City, Or. Everything that kind and loving hands could do was done for her in her last hours. There were present at her bedside her husband and son George, her daughters Mrs. Moore and Mrs. Moffit, several grand children and a few kind friends. Mother Hoffstatter was a devoted Christian, a faithful member of the Methodist Episcopal church, and died in the triumphs of the Christian faith. The bereaved members of the family will have the sincere sympathy of the entire community. "She rests from her labors and her works do follow her."
