JOSEPHINE HOPKINS Josephine Ella Higgins was born November 10, 1854, at Fairfield, Ohio. On January 18, 1880 she was married to Francis T. Hopkins. In 1890 they came to Idaho to live and have spent the time since then in Weiser, having lived for the last thirty seven years in the home on East Court Street. Mrs. Hopkins has been a Christian for many years and recently became a member of the local Congregational church. After coming to Weiser Mrs. Hopkins was active in community and lodge work. She was a charter member and first guardian neighbor of the women of Woodcraft, Weiser lodge. At one time she was very active and held an office in the Outlook club. Her supreme interest however was in her home and family. She was a self sacrificing mother, one who gave herself for the sake of family, esteeming it a better thing to help than to help herself. Three children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Hopkins, Mrs. C. T. Coulter, Mrs. B. H. Miller and Mrs.. Lyman Hinckley, all of whom were with her when she entered into eternal rest Saturday evening, May 2. There were also two grandchildren, Lee Francis and Patricia Ann Miller. Mr. Hopkins died in 1925. Funeral services were held at the family home Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock, conducted by Rev. L. Titus of the Christian Church. The women of Woodcraft held their memorial service at the grave.
