Johnson William E. Johnson, a pioneer of the west, died at the home of his son Charles Johnson, near Midvale, on January 6, 1915. Mr. Johnson was born in 1833, in Rutland county, Vermont. While yet young he left for California in 1849, where for many years he followed placer mining. He went from California to Oregon, where he met Mrs. Frances Ann Johnson, and married in 1880. He moved with his family to Peck, Idaho, in 1897 where his wife died on September 13th, 1913. He came with his son Charles and family to Washington county last spring. His many friends in North Idaho will regret his death, as he was loved and respected by all who knew him. He is survived by two children, Charles Johnson of Midvale and Mrs. Carrie Taylor of Spokane, Washington.
