Chris Larsen is Found Dead in His Bed
 
Cambridge people were unprepared for the shock which they received Wednesday 
when the news reached town that Chris Larsen had been found dead in his bed 
and that he had been dead for ten days or two weeks.
 
Mr. Jefferson, who lives near him, went over to his house on business 
Wednesday morning, and when he received no response to his knock, he opened 
the door and went in.  As he did so, a sight met his eyes which had a tendency 
to try his nerve for a moment.  There in his bed was Mr. Larsen with his arms 
peacefully by his side and apparently had died without a struggle, and perhaps 
without realizing it.
 
Mr. Jefferson immediately came to town and gave the alarm and a number of his 
friends went out.  The coroner, sheriff and prosecuting attorney came up, but 
decided that an inquest was not necessary.  The funeral was held Thursday at 
the Cambridge cemetery, conducted by Rev. Getman.
 
He had been dead about two weeks and the body was in very bad shape.  On and 
about his person was found about $500 in cash.  Very little is known of his 
business and few of the notes and mortgages which he held have been found.  
There don't seem to be any will.  We was worth perhaps $20,000.
 
This was an unfitting ending for a man who had only good to say and do for 
every one.
 
He was 73 years old.  He came here in 1873 and homesteaded the place where he 
died.
 
Harry Coon has been appointed temporary administrator of the estate.  The 
permanent administrator will be appointed August 10.
