SHROYER PASSES Martha Emma Joslin was born Feb. 26th, 1868 in Wash., Co. Ark. She died Dec. 6, 1923 aged 55 years, 9 months, 11 days. In 1888 she was married to Uriah Shroyer who with their four children survive her. They are J. E Shroyer, (Blanche) Mrs. Moss Wilkerson, Edna and Ethel. Besides her husband and children she leaves one sister, Mrs. Susie Brown of Payette, also three sisters and one brother in the east. In 1902 the family came to Idaho and have lived here since that time. A feeling of personal loss and sorrow permeated every home in Salubria valley when word was brought that Mrs. Shroyer had passed on. While every one knew her condition had been critical still we had hoped she would yet live many years to bless her home and her community. Besides making an ideal home for her own family she was ever ready to help anyone needing aid. Many and varied were the demands upon her time and kindness for everyone felt free to go to her for assistance well knowing it would be so heartily given. We, who have enjoyed the rare hospitality of her home and family can never forget her cheerful kindly manner that was but the reflection of her noble character. "None knew her but to love her." Was a surprise, or a "shower" being considered for someone in the neighborhood, then her home was considered the most suitable place for holding it. During the winter of 1917-18 the women of the neighborhood met one whole day each week at her home where under her kindly capable supervision, sewing was completed for Red Cross work. For years she has worked in our S. S. sometimes serving as superintendent or helping in any way she could. The revival of our S. S. this fall was due largely to her efforts and that of her family. At the age of 23 she became a member of the M. E. church. From the M. E. church at Cambridge, funeral services were conducted Dec. 8, 1923 under the auspices of Mrs. U. M. Over. The universal esteem and respect all felt her was shown by the large gathering of friends who were present. She was laid to rest in the Salubria cemetery. "There is no Death; What seems so is transition; This life of mortal breath is but a suburb of the life elysian Whose portal we call Death." Contributed CARD OF THANKS We wish to thank the kind friends for their help, sympathy and floral offerings at the last sad rites of our wife and mother.
