Woodville Cemetery, Adams Co., IL


The village of Woodville

Martin Van Buren, President of the United States of
America, on September 1, 1835, the United States government
issued a patent to Stephen B Munn for the north east
quarter of section 2, township 2 NRTW of the 4th P.M.,
Adams County, Illinois, containing no less than 163.32
acres.  From this the village of Woodville was laid out by
its proprietor, Isaac N Norris, being about forty-three
acres of land, of which one acre has been set aside for a
burying ground.  Filed July 15, 1836.

The first burial was in 1836, an infant became ill and died
as it was traveling west with its parents, who had stopped
at the hotel in Woodville to spend the night.
