Mrs. MilfordWhitaker, generally known under her maidn name of Katherine Dunn, 813 1/2 Commercial Avenue committed suicide outside a dance hall at Ullin , Illinois last midnight , by shooting herself in the right breast with a 32- calibre revolver. Jealousy aggravated by intoxication, was responsible for he act, in the opinion of officials and witnesses. Whitaker attended the dance last night with a boyfriend and two girls. He said that he and his wife had been seperated for three or four days. They seldom lived together regularly. Whitaker residing at 3601 Highland avenue. About 7 o'clock thursday evening Mrs. Whitaker caled Orville Hunt, a taxi- driver , and asked him to drive her to Ullin. They drove around Cairo and picked up a girl friend of Mrs. Whitake. When they arrived at the dance hall she found her husband and asked him to return home with herbut he refused. She started back to the car while Whitaker stood in the corridor and Hunter was upstairs in the dance hall. A shot was heard and she was found lying beside the taxi, fatally wounded. INQUEST THE EVENING Whitaker and Hunter placed the body in the machine and drove madly to Cairo, but she died before reaching the hospital and they turned the remains over to E.A. Burke. Deputy Coroner D. A. Sullivan was assembling evidence this morning pending the return of Coroner Burke who is investigating another case in the county. Both Hunter and Whitaker stated that Mrs. Whitaker , who was about 22 years old , was under the influence of liquor. Both she and her husband have police records. She came here several years ago from Missouri. The inquest will be held at 7 o'clock this evening . Funeral services for Mrs. Whitaker will be held Saturday afternoon with interment at Beech Grove.
