Friday April 14, 1911, (next page) OLD RESIDENT OF CAIRO DIED THIS MORNING Mrs. Catherine SMITH, Mother of E. A. Smith Passed Away. Mrs. Catherine Frances SMITH died this morning at 11 o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. A. M. GUION, who resides with her daughter Mrs. George FARRIN at 722 Twenty-fifth street. Mrs. SMITH was taken with an attack of grip a week ago Tuesday which developed into bronchitis resulting in her death. Mrs. SMITH who was nearly 79 years old was born in Brantford, Canada and has lived in Cairo since 1859. She was married twice, her first husband being George SMITH, after whose death she married Louis [sic] LINCOLN who is also deceased. She was the mother of thirteen children, of whom four are living, Mrs. A. M. GUION, Messrs. E. A. SMITH and Cyrus SMITH of Cairo and William SMITH of Denver, Colo. She also leaves surviving her a sister Mrs. Eliza WORKMAN of Brantford, Canada, a brother Robert TURNER of Toronto, Canada and a brother Frank TURNER who lives in California. The average ages of these three is something over 69 years. The funeral will probably be held from the house Sunday afternoon, although definite arrangements have not been made as yet. Funeral services will be held at the residence of her daughter Mrs. Geo. M. FARRIN, 722 Twenty-fifth street at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, April 16, Rev. E. A. DEROSSET of the Church of the Redeemer officiating. Special train from Fourteenth street at 2:45 p.m. Interment at Villa Ridge Cemetery.
