     Sir
            Understanding that some disloyal people in Illinois, between here 
and Jonesboro threaten to intercept dispatches sent from this point  I direct 
you that should you find any engaged in such acts as threatening then you 
arrest them at once.  Bring such prisoners to this place for confinement and 
leave with the commanding officer here the charges names of witnesses and all 
other facts you are able to collect.
