Apple, a prominent resident of Tamalco township, died at his home one half miles east of Tamalco, February 9, 1920. Mr. Apple was born in Hancock county, Indiana on February 18, 1840. He served in the civil war as member of Co. C, 23, Ill. Calvary. He was married on Christmas Day 1879 at Carlyle to Emma Ksner, who survives together witht he following children: J.V. Apple of Bethalto, Clary R. Apple of Monticello, Erwin of Tamalco, a senior of the Greenville high school and Mrs. M. T. Hord of Boulder, Mrs. C. H. Dixon of batavia and Octa Apple of Tamalco. He is survived by brothers, Cass of St. Louis and Smith Apple of Quincy and one sister, Mrs. Mary Owens of Missouri. burial was in Duncan Cemetery.
