Betterton died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Wyatt Stubblefield, north of town, Feb. 2, 1914. Mrs. Betterton was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joel Davis and she was born in Hopkins county, Kentucky, April 18, 1840. She came to Bond county with her parents when she was but four years of age and lived here the balance of her life. She was twice married, her first husband being Evan Evans, member of the Co. E., 130th Ill Regiment who was killed on the Battle of Sabine Cross Roads, Tennesee during the Civil War. She married him on Christmas day 1856. to this union were born six children, three of whom haved died. the surviving children are Eli Evans of this city, Louis Evans and Mrs. Wyatt Stubble of north of Greenville. Her second marriage was to Moses Betterton who she married when she was twenty- four years of age and he died about fourteen years ago. Surviving this union are three children, MOses R. Betterton of north Greenville, Mrs. Maggie Harlan of Springfield and Daisy Smith of Middletown, Ohio. bural took place at Union Grove.
