Mr. Eardley was bornin Sapphire, Enlgand. Oct. 15. 1835. He came to the United States when he was 14 years of age and settled near St. Louis, but a short time later moved to Bond County and resided in the vicinity of New Douglas most of his life. He was married three times. His first wife was Anna Eaton, his second, Sarah Eaton, a sister of the first wife and his third wife was Mary Thomas, whom he married in 1870. She with nine children survive. the children are John of New Douglas, Thomas of Sorento, Jess of Worden, William of Ioga, Texas, Mrs. Fred Overbeck of New Douglas, Mrs. George Bartels of Sorento, Mrs. William Fairchild of Denver and Mrs. George of Greenville.
