She was born in Jerico, Vermont, November 15, 1815. With her father's family she came to this state in 1835, settling near Greenville. On March 29, 1838 Miss Norton ( The Family name) married Edwin Foster, a brother of Mrs. Ansel Birge, and settled on part of farm now owned by Williamson Plant. In 1852 or '53 Mr. Foster bought the land in the north part of LaGrange, and this has been the family home to the present time. She was the mother of nine children, five of whom preceded her to the grave. She died August 17, 1880. In September 1858 Mr. Foster died, and while they were burying him the nith child was born. Two years later this child was taken from her. On the first call for volunteers fro the suppression of the slaveholders rebellion, her eldest son, William enlisted and after a month was sent home to die. He died in the fall of 1861. Early in 1862 her second son Henry enlisted in the 3rd calvery under CApt T. M. Davis and in a few months his mother was called to Rolla, Mo. to bury him. Between 1872 and 1875 she lost two other children, a daughter and a son. For survive her.
