Gilliland, a brother of Mrs. Mary Watkins of Greenville, died at his home in Pocahontas, Jan. 8, 1923. He was born in Madison county, Oct 30, 1844, son of Samuel and Mary (Duff) Gilliland. His wife was Miss Redding who passed away many years ago. He is survived by three daughters and one son, Mrs. Ed Gibbs of Pocahontas, Miss Maggie Gililand and James of Pocahontas, Mrs. Ell Stookey of Mulberry Grove and three sisters, Mrs. Mary Watkins of Greenville, Mrs. J. F. Bone of Muncie, Indiana and Mrs. Clara Staffelbach of Palouie, Washington. burial was at Robinsons Cemetery.
