Goodin died at his home at the foot of Mill Hill, March 17, 1894. he was born in Perry County, Ohio, November 29, 1832. In 1857 he came to Illinois and was united in marriage in 1858 to Mary E. Gillespie. To this union were born six children, only two of whom with the mother survive. Mr. Goodin was among the first to respond to his county's call in the great Civil War. he enlisted in Co. D. 3rd Ill, Cav., August 12, 1861, doing his three years sevice hard and faithful duty as a soldier. Burial was at Hazel Dell Cemetery.
