Henry, died March 5, 1874, at the residence of his brother-in-law, C.W. Floyd, north of Greenville, aged 44 years. Although comparativly young he had passed through an eventful life. In the Texas Lesislature while the secession bill was pending, he opposed it with an honest devotion to the laws of the county and prophetically assured that the thoughtless assembly that they would never see the day when their independence would be acknowledged. After that body was dissolved unswerving devotion to the government. He edited the Union Paper with such zeal as finally compelled him to leave that state. Seperated from wife and children but that fatal act of the legislature, here in Bond county adjacent counties, he spent the best efforts of his life in editing papers and promulgating sentiments in favor of the union. As a Lawyer he commended the respect of his associates. As a husband and father, kind, affectinate and obliging, loved, respected and admire by kindred.
