Holdzkom, died at the Deaconess hospital in St. Louis, Dec. 16, 1922, aged 66 years, 9 months, and 25 days. Willis O. Holdzkom was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on Feb 21, 1854, a son of William and Amanda Holdzkom. When a small boy he came from Ohio to Effingham with his parents. When a young man he came to Greenville where e became connected with The Greenville Advocate, which at the time was edited by the late George M. tatham. He remained in the employ of the Advocate for about three years and then embaraked in the harness business, in which he made a success. He remained in this business for twenty- years. In 1901, Mr. Holdzkom opened the Red Front Notion Store, which he conducted until a few years ago, when he disposed of his interest to H. E. Watkins. Mr. Holdzkom was married Dec. 17, 1878 to Miss Estella McLain, a duaghter of the late N.W. McLain. Four children were born to them and they with their mother survive. They are Mrs. Ruby Gaffner of Kirksville, Missouri, Mrs. Nelle Bykit of Greenville, Lincoln M. Holdzkom of Greenville, and Earl L. Holdzkom of Windfeild, Kansas. He is also survived by one brother, Al Holdzkom of Impearial, California and one sister, Mrs. Grace Jones of Portland, Oregon and eight granchildren. Burial was at Montrose Cemetery.
