Mrs. Elizabeth Hynes, wife of the late Rev. Dr. Thomas W. Hynes, died at her home on East South Avenue, January 28, 1916. Mrs. Hynes was the daughter of James and Sarah Wafer, who married in Kentucky in 1815, and who came to Bond County in 1818. She was born near Reno, March 30, 1825. She was twice married. Her first husband was James Marcus Wheeler, whom she married in 1842, and who died about two years later, leaving one son, J.S. Wheeler, proprietor of the Wheeler House of this city. Her second marriage was to Dr. Hynes on December 18, 1860, at the home of her parents near Reno. A daughter died in infancy andWalter B., a son, died last July. Surviving Mrs. Hynes are the following step-children. Charles Hynes of Loganport, Indidana and Miss Ella Hynes of this city. One son Samuel B. Hynes, died in 1904, and another W.D. Hynes died in Indianapolis in August 1915. She is survived by one brother, James Wafer of this city. Her husband, the late Rev. Thomas W. Hynes died in Greenville in July, 1905.
