On October 6, 1875 his companion was taken from him. About the year 1842 with his wife and children, he came to this country. Making a short stay in New Orleans he removed to Nauvoo, where he spent three years. From there he removed, about the year 1845, to St. Louis, which he made his home for 5 years. Moving from there in 1850, he settled in Pleasant Prairie, this county where he lived until about 1853, when he settled in Bethel, where he spent the remainder of his life. Of the 8 children, 7 preceded them to the grave. The one surviving member of the family is Mrs. McFarland, of near Staunton, she being the 2nd child and was 6 years old when her parents came to this country. He died January 17,1877 and burial was in Bethel cemetery.
