McLain died at her home in the southwest part of the city, Wednesday, June 22, 1910. Mrs. McLain lacked only 19 days of being 93 years of age. She had been a resident of Bond County for 92 years. Mrs. McLain's maiden name was Nancy Wafer. She was born in Kentucky June 11, 1817, and the following year came to Bond County with her parents who settled on a farm three miles from Elm Point, on what is now known as the William Morgan farm. She was married to N.W. McLain at the Elm Point church on October 13, 1858. To them were born two children, Warren, who died when young, and Mrs. W.O. Holdzkom of this city. Mrs. J.M. Miller, W.A. and Vance McLain of this city, and Mrs. J.B. Libbey of Parsons, Kansas are step-children of Mrs. McLain.Surviving her also are two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Plant and Mrs. Elizabeth Hynes and two brothers, J.E.Wafer and John Wafer, all of whom live in this city, except John Wafer, who resides in Houston, Texas.
