He arrived from Belfast in the Spring of 1823. He arrived in Quebec, Canada, in the autum of that year. From Quebec he came to Shawneetown, Illinois, traviling down the Ohio River in a Yawl Boat. From that place he removed to Irishtown, Clinton county, Illninois wher he settle but a few miles form the late residence. He married Minerva Mills, April 20, 1829, while living in Irishtown Settlement. the Mills family of the same stock as the distinguished Judge Benjamin Mills, who was one of the Justices of the Supreme Court of Kentucky. His widow Survives him. To them were born nine children, seven of whom are still living. In April he attained the age of 83 years, 4 months and 10 days.
