John W. Miles of Pocahontas, a brother of Mrs. Nettie Critchfield of 
Greenville and a veteran of the Civil war, died at his home, November 23, 
1922.  
Mr. Miles was born December 19, 1843 near Pocahontas, a son of Morris and 
Nancy Miles.  On March 5, 1866 he married Mary E. Kershner at Dudleyville.  
She with three children survive him.  Two sons, Frank and Arthur of Pocahontas 
and one daughter, Mrs. Emma Lipple of Pocahontas. One sister, Mrs. Nettie 
Critchfield of Greenville also survives.  Two children, Walter and Elsie died 
in infancy.
