Powell of Pocahontas, a veteran of the World War and a well known Physician and surgeon of western Bond County, died at his home in Pocahontas, May 12, 1925. Charles Hunt Powell was born in St. Louis, Missouri, March 13, 1863, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert R. Powell. In 1914 he moved to Old Ripley from Danville and remained there unti 1920 when he removed to Pocahontas, where he has since made his home. Dr. Powell enlisted in the Medical Corps of the U.S. Army with the rank of Captain during the first year of his elnistment, the second year being advanced to major. He was in the Medical Reserve Corps at the time of his death and was serving his third enlistement in the reserve. On August 21, 1901 he was married to Nancy B. Stanely and she with two sons, Herbert Powell of Alton and Everett Powell of Pocahontas survives. He is also survived by a brother, Owen Powell of St. Jacob and two other brothers and two sisters, who resides in the east.
