About the year 1810 he removed with his father to Tennessee and settle in Murry County. In the War of 1812 he volunteered in the service of his county. Himself with three brothers were in the battle of Pensacoloa and New Orleans. In the spring of 1818 he moved with his family to Illinois, and here raised a large family. About twenty-four years past the companion of his youth was taken away. He was left with eleven, who all lived to be grown and married, but only seven yet live. When he died he had thirty-two grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. His father Jacob Seagraves was a soldier in the Revolutionary War and recieved a pesion from the goverment in 1832, he died in Clinton County, Il.
