Mr. Travis was born in Jersey County, Feb. 7, 1855, a pioneer settle of this county. Mr. Travis later moved to Christian County and Located at Morrisonville in 1866 with his parents. When he was 20 years of age in 1877 he went to Parsons, Kansas, with his brothers in a coverd wagon, in those days known as a "Prairie Schooner." the next year he returned to Morrisonville, where he married Miss Clemontine L. CaldWell of Taylorville on Jan 28, 1879. They came to Bond County in the spring of 1895 and settled at Sorento. They later moved to a farm Northwest of Greenville where they lived until four years ago when they sold their farm and moved to this city. The widow and one son, James H. Travis surives. He is also survived by two siters, Mrs. H. L. Fairchild and Mrs. Mary Caldwell of this city. One brother Oscar Travis of Bartlesville, Oklahoma. One brother and one sisters have died.
