All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/il/ilfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Sue Yockey Johnson sdy316@gmail.com April 14, 2012, 2:39 am Jacksonville Journal 9/11/1961 Fred Yockey, a son of the late Lewis and Catherine Wagner Yockey, was born in Brown County on November 30th, 1879 and passed away in St. Mary's hospital, Streator, Ill. last Saturday, Sept. 9th 1961 after an illness of three weeks. Mr. Yockey spent most of his life in Brown County and worked for the Wabash railroad as a track-walker and for the Highway department with the maintenance crew, in addition to farm and other work. He was united in marriage to Myrtle Moore who passed away on December 23rd, 1951. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Eva Thompson of Peoria: two sons, Mervin of Streator and Wayne of Mt. Sterling; a sister Mrs.Lottie Daniels of Mt. Sterling, 16 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; other more distant relatives and a host of friends. A daughter, Mrs.(George) Katherine Nations, and a son Lyle, preceded him in death. Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon in the Rounds Funeral Chapel, Rev. V.L. Luse, pastor of the Christan church, officiating. Mrs. Charles E. Turner was the organist. Casketbearers were Loren Newenham, Kenneth Ferguson, Maurice Armstrong, Frank Wegs, Ed Kleinlein and Teen Phelps. Burial was at the Mt. Sterling City Cemetery.
