All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/il/ilfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Deb Haines http://www.genrecords.net/emailregistry/vols/00003.html#0000719 July 14, 2012, 11:46 pm Fifteenth Annual Report of the State Bureau of Labor Statistics, 1896 On January 13, 1896, at the White Breast Fuel Co.’s mine at Ladd, Bureau county, Dominick Bugni, an Italian miner, aged 61 years, was fatally injured while moving his tools from one part of the mine to another. _____ passing a driver at a parting, he was told to put his tools in a car, and go in ahead of the mule, as it was a new mule the driver was breaking ____ but he paid no heed, or did not understand, and passed on. When _____ about 250 feet ahead of the driver, the mule started up and ran away. Deceased got to a switch and stepped in, as he supposed out of the way, but the car jumped the track at the frog and caught his left leg between it and the cog, crushing it. The accident occurred about 9 o’clock a. m., and he died at 3 o’clock the following morning. He leaves a widow and five children in Italy, all dependent.
