JOHN LINCOLN MISSING Three weeks ago today, one John Lincoln, a wood chopper, on the island about three miles above Sabula, left his cabin and went to Savanna to sell a few furs and make some purchases. After transacting his business he left for home, since which time nothing has been heard or seen from him. His friends have been on the search for a considerable time, but no clue has been found of his whereabouts since he left Savanna. Grave fears are entertained that in crossing the river the ice gave way with him and he has met a watery grave. While some of the friends of the missing Lincoln were on the search for him last Saturday, their attention was attracted by a slight mound of earth on the island not far from the Harald House by the peculiar action of their dogs. Procuring a spade they proceeded to open the mound and to their surprise unearthed a body of a negro wrapped in an old blanket. The body was considerably decomposed and the finders hurriedly hid it from sight with sand and brush.
