Using shotguns they killed one, a 33 lb. female and badly wounded the second one. Although the second wolf had one leg shot away, it escaped back into the hills off the depot near Blanding. An attempt is being made to trail the wounded animal. Hartman, of Mt. Carroll, and Jackson, of Savanna, had been assigned to search for wolves in the vicinity of one of the flocks of sheep grazing in the north end of the depot. Upon examination of the dead wolf's stomach, it was found to contain a large amount of lamb's wool. Sixteen lambs have been killed during the past four days. Every den found on the depot will be dug out to determine whether or not they may be harboring wolves.
