He had been to the hospital since last Sunday. The body was removed to the Cline Funeral Home to be prepared for burial. Born Jan.14, 1853 in St.Louis, Mo., Mr. Geils acted as a street car motorman in that city as a young man before coming here to take a position in the Burlington roundhouse. He retired in 1922. Lived here for years Mr.Geils made his home at 1004 Jackson Street for many years and after the death of his second Wife in 1920 lived there with his daughter, Mrs. Randolph Loughary and family. Besides Mrs. Loughary he is survived by his other daughters, Mrs. C. Heimel of Galesburg and Mrs. Roy Becker of Watervliet, New York; Mrs. Leonard Bridgeman of Arenzville, the later being a child of the first marriage; and by 16 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Also surviving are his step children William Strohecker of near this city and Mrs J. F. Musch of this city. Family notes: John Henry Geils was the brother to Maria Geils- Nolden; he was the son of Albert Geils and Maria Loheide. His children with Lydia Kugel-Strohecker were Anita Geils who married Roy Henry Becker; Frances M. Geils who married Randolph Jesse (Randy) Loughary; Viola Geils who married Henry Kloker; Walter Geils who married Mildred O'Hara, Ethel Geils who married Charles C. Heimel, and Albert Geils. Step Children included: William Strohecker, and Phylliss Strohecker who married John Musch; and Mrs. Leonard Bridgeman. John Henrys' first wife was Minnie Schneider, she died in 1889.
