Obituary of Carl Allen Bock

C. Allen Bock
C. Allen Bock, a Professor and Extension Specialist in Agricultural Law at the 
University of Illinois for the past 31 years, died at the age of 55 in Fisher, 
IL, on June 1. Dr. Bock completed his B.S. in agriculture from the University 
of Illinois in 1965, received his J.D. from the University of Illinois College 
of Law in 1968 and joined the University of Illinois faculty that same year. 
He played a key role in developing and delivering what is considered by many 
to be the most outstanding national extension program, the Farm Income Tax 
School Program. He was a member of the Illinois State Bar Association and its 
Agricultural Law Section, the Illinois Aberdeen Angus Association and the 
Champaign County Farm Bureau. Among the awards he received were the 1995 
American Agricultural Economics Association Distinguished Extension Group 
Program Award, the 1990 University of Illinois Extension Sustained Excellence 
in Programs and Service Award, the 1989 University of Illinois Consumer and 
Homemaking Education Program Award, the 1986 Alpha Zeta Outstanding Instructor 
Recognition, the 1986 M.S. Williams Program Innovation Award, the 1982 
University of Illinois College of Agriculture Paul A. Funk Award, the 1981 
USDA Distinguished Service Award, the Alpha Gamma Rho Outstanding 
Contributions Award, the 1974 Epsilon Sigma Phi Award for ingenuity, 
creativity and originality in developing innovative extension programs and the 
1973 Internal Revenue Service commendation for development of the Farm Income 
Tax School Workbook. He authored several books about tax law and many 
publications for attorneys, estate planners and other specialists.
