Obituary for Barney H Bartell, Iroquois and Champaign County, Illinois

Brother of Buckley man dies Monday

Onarga -- Funeral services for Barney H. Bartell, 78, of 
Gifford, a brother of John Bartell of Buckley, were at 10 
a.m. Thursday, January 12, in the Lux Memorial Chapel in 
Rantoul with the Rev. Melvin Blobaum officiating. Burial 
was in Huls Cemetery.

Mr. Bartell died at 8:55 p.m. Monday, Jan. 10, at his home.

He was born April 30, 1898, near Flatville, a son of Bartel 
and Gebke Duitsman Bartell. On April 8, 1923, he was married 
to Oral Lenora Clester of Gifford. For many years, Mr. Bartell 
operated Bartell's Tavern in Gifford.

Also surviving are his wife; a son, Dwight of Dallas, Tex.; 
two daughters, Mrs. Harold Phipps of Rantoul and Mrs. Ernest 
Johnson of near Rantoul; a sister, Gertrude Krumwiede of 
Buckley; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister.
