Obituary. . . Sidney, IL

Kerna O. Block, 65, of Thousand Springs, Fla.,  formerly of Sidney, died
at 4:10 p.m. Friday, (April 29, 1973) in Desert Hospital, Palm Springs. 
He had Suffered a massive Stroke on Tuesday.

Guneral services are pending at Forrest Lawn Funeral Home, Thousand
Palms, Fla.

Mr. Block was born in Raymond Township September 7, 1908, son of Henry
A. Block and Elizabeth Bamberger Block.  He graduated from Longview High
School and entered the carpentry trade.

In 1929 he married May Rowen of Longview.  They lived in the Sidney area
for several years until Mr. Block became associated with government
building division. 

He retired from the government job in June of 1972 and moved from Los
Angeles, Calif. to Thousand Palms.

In addition to his wife he is survived by one daghter, Mrs. Joe Marino,
Los Angeles, Calif.. three grandchildren; one brother Estor Block,
Sidney; three sisters, Mrs. Glenn (Ella ) Erb, Mrs. Edgar (Florence)
Schwartz, both of Sidney; and Mrs. Rhinehold Elma Haas, Sidell.

His parents and one brother Hilbert, preceded him in death.
