Buddemeier, 72, of Longview, former president of the Douglas County Farm Bureau and Mayor of Longview, died at 8 a.m. Saturday, Oct27,1979 at Burnham Hospital, Champaign. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday Monday, Oct. 29 , at the Joines Funeral Home, Villa Grove, with the Rev. Charles Llewellyn officiating. Burial was in Fairfield Cemetery, Newman. Mr. Buddemeier was born Dec. 16, 1906, in Sidney, a son of Samuel and Jackobina Dahl Buddemeier. He married Thelma Race in 1929 at Monticello. She survives. Also Surviving are a son, Maurice of Naperville; four grand children; a brother, Wilber of Champaign; and a sister, Louise Ray of Urbana. He was preceded in death by a brother. Mr. Buddemeier was a member of the Pleasant Hill Church and the Longview United Methodist Church, serving as superintendent and Sunday School teacher at Longview Church. He had served as Mayor of Longview and had been a member of the Longview School Board. Mr. Buddemeier was a Life member of the Champaign County and Douglas County Farm Beaus, serving as president of the Douglas County Farm Bureau from 1966 to 1978. He also was an active member of the Illian Electric Rural Co-op board. Mr. Buddemeier was a high school athletic official for many years and played EI League baseball for several years.
