Obituary. . . Sidney, IL

Raymond Schwartz

Raymond E. Schwartz, 70, of Sidney died at 5:20 p.m. Wednesday (April
23,1997) at Covenant Medical Center, Urbana.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Sidney United
Church, 501 E. Main St., Sidney.  Randy Toss will officiate.

Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Sidney, with military rites by
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5520 of Champaign.

Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at ZFreese Funeral Home, 202
W. Main St., Sidney.

Mr. Schwartz was born Oct. 26, 1926, at Sidney, son of Edgar E. and
Flora N. Block Schwartz.  He married Doris Buhr on June 10, 1946, at
Urbana.  She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Dennis Schwartz of Sidney and James
Schwartz of Champaign; eight grandchildren;  three great-grandchildren;
a brother, Melvin Schwartz of Urbana; and two sisters, Irene Lofton and
Arlene Buhr, both of Champaign.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Schwartz was a member of the Sidney United Church.  He served in the
U.S. Navy and the Navy Reserve and was a veteran of WW ll.  He farmed in
the Sidney area and was a member of the Champaign county Farm Bureau. 
He was a former Sidney Township road commissioner.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the
Sidney United Church.
