SOPHIA HARMAN

Graveside services for Sophia HARMAN, 103, formerly of 106 W. 
Charles St., C, will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Mount Hope 
Cemetery, Champaign, the Rev. Tim Barber officiating.

Visitation will be private.  Heath and Sons Funeral Home, 
Champaign, is handling arrangements.

Mrs. HARMAN died at 12:30 a.m. Friday (May 8, 1987) at Heritage 
House, Champaign.

She was born Sept. 9, 1883, in Edwards County, a daughter of
Thadeus and Mary MILLER SLOAT.  She married Elbert Lee HARMAN
on Feb. 18, 1903, at Grayville.  He died in April 1942.

Survivors include three daughters, Elberta MARSHKY of Champaign, 
Gene POLAND of Cape Coral, Fla., and Dorcas Lee ELLIOTT of Olney; 
14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-
grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons, a daughter, a grandson and 
a sister.  Mrs. HARMAN was a housekeeper for the Hotel Tilden Hall 
at Champaign for many years.
