Charles H. Houchen was born in Christian County... 
Edinburg, Illinois on 04 04 1879.

His military history as follows was in court case 
files documented by him (his responses to personal 
military history):

Served in the US Army during the Spanish American War 
1898-1901

Re-enlisted 1904-1907 during peace time.

Re-enlisted again and served in the Army along the 
Mexican border during WWI 1916-1917.
