Colby, was born Dec. 25th, 1843, Near Carrollton, Greene County, ILL. She was born of Christian parents, in a Christian community. Her mind being impressed by the favorable surrounding influences, she in early life gave her heart to God, and received assurance of his acceptance. "In the day thou givest me thy whole heart I will be found of thee." "Those that seek me early shall find me." She died at Memphis, Tenn., Sept. 21st., 1895, aged 51 years, 8 months and 27 days. She was united in marriage to William Walker and from that union leaves four children, two sons and two daughters and several brothers and sisters to mourn her loss. For the past 14 years she had been a great, but patient sufferer, and for the last four or five years has been unable to feed herself. Her suffering now is over, and she has entered the haven of rest. The remains arrived in Pana, Illinois Sunday and the funeral service was conducted at the First M.E. Church, Monday morning at ten o'clock. Interment took place at Rosemond Cemetery." Photocopy of page (5), September 28, 1895 issue of PANA WEEKLY PALLADIUM, published in Pana, Illinois.
