Hancock Veteran of Civil War Dies at 94 Was One of Country's Last Boys in Blue" George T. Hancock of Mechanicsburg and Morrisonville died at 1:15 a.m. yesterday at the home of his daughter Mrs. Ida Hancock Waterman of Morrisonville. He was 94 years old. Mr. Hancock followed farming most of his life. He was head of six generations and left between 200 and 300 descendants. Mr. Hancock retained his mental alertness to the last. He was born in Liberty, Kentucky 24 Feb, 1849, the son of Andrew and Rebecca Walker Hancock. He married Mary Jane Ross and after her death, he married Margaret E. Walker, both deceased. He is survived by daughters Mrs. Ida Waterman and Mrs. Becky Lairson of Springfield and sons William of Taylorville and George B. of Mt. Auburn. The remains were remvoed to the Abel Funeral Home in Taylorville where services will be held at 1 p.m. tomorrow. Final rites will be held at 2:15 p.m. in the chapel of Mechanicsburg Cemetery. Additional Comments: Note: George Taylor Hancock served in the 13th Kentucky Caavalry as a boy of 14 and 15 years of age. He had received a Civil War pension for 75 years.
