Obituary of Margaret Colby 1894 - Christian County, Illinois 


Obituary for my great, great grandmother, from the following Pana, Illinois
newspaper (on microfilm at the Pana News, Pana, Illinois):

                           "The Silent Majority"

"The numerous friends and acquaintances of Mrs. Margaret Colby, will sorrow
to learn of her sudden death, which occurred at her home, a mile and a half
Northwest of this city, and but a short distance from that of her daughter
Mrs. Columbus Shuman, to whose residence her remains were taken this morning.

Mrs. Colby was one of the oldest residents of this township, and a very
highly respected lady.  She was about 72 years old and her death is
attributed to senility.

The deceased was well known to a majority of our residents as a noble,
charitable, Christian woman, and they will sincerely regret her death.

The funeral will occur Sunday morning at 10:50 o'clock from the residence of
Columbus Shuman, a mile and a half Northwest of town, with internment at
Rosemond Cemetery."
