Harry and Seth Husted were in town Saturday. Hick Morgan had a severe congestive chill Sunday. Charley Hodge and wife of Melrose were in the city Monday. Mrs. Margaret Henley has been very sick for the past several weeks. Comrade Curtis and Wm. Moore visited Marshall Monday on business. H. Norman is building an addition to his suburban residence on Fair Ground avenue. Uncle Jackson Black, the oldest man in this part of the country, was in the city Monday. Rev. Atkinson of Casey filled his regular appointments here Saturday and Sunday at the Baptist church. Elder J. Bernard administered the ordinance of baptism to fourteen persons in the creek near the depot Sunday afternoon. Rev. Orr, an old time M. E. circuit rider of the Martinsville circuit, held quarterly meeting at Zoar Sunday for the elder, Rev. Miller. Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Honnold of York, Neb., have been the guests of Mrs. Nellie Shoemaker and Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Snavely the past week. Wm. Jetters, Mrs. Anderson Simmons, Mrs. John Lawrence and Mrs. Laura Fuller attended the funeral of Mrs. John Jeffers at Marshall Friday last. Uncle Gil White was in town last week. He has lost his hearing to such an extent that he can't tune his fiddle nor hear his own music and is thus deprived of a great deal of enjoyment. While in Terre Haute, Mart Price was struck in the mouth with metal knucks, knocking some teeth out and when he fell his head struck the floor with great violence. Mart says he was "over the Divide" for several hours, but the doctors brought him back for which they have the thanks of Mart's many friends.
