On October 12, 1854, she was united in marriage to George Atwood in Licking County, Ohio. In the following year, the couple moved to Illinois and in 1862 they located in Marshall and here they have ever since made their home. To them were born ten children, six of whom with the father survive the mother. The children living are Thomas, Lucius, Miss Jessie; Mrs. William Gilbert and Mrs. John Cunningham, of Marshall, and Frank, of Robinson. Mrs. Atwood's death was due to consumption with which she had been afflicted for some time. She suffered a great deal but never murmured and kept bravely at her work almost until the last, ever being cheerful and hopeful. In her younger days she became a member of the United Brethren church, and in her home life she endeavored to live the life of a true Christian. She was a noble wife and mother, ever watchful, industrious and upright. The funeral was conducted at the family residence Monday by Rev. A. A.
