He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Hewitt Oct 12, 1854. This union was blessed with 11 children, 7 sons and 4 daughters. The faithful wife and mother preceded the father only a little more than three years to the better land. Three sons and one daughter, also entered the world of spirits before the father. Deceased was converted and joined the church in early manhood. His home life was an example of piety. As a citizen, he was honest and upright. His disposition was marked with kindness and congeniality. During the latter part of his life, over and over again he expressed a hope of the future to his children and family. His surviving relatives are one sister, Mrs. Abby Wilcox, and Thomas J., Isaac L., and Harry of Marshall and Franklin G of Robinson, Il., Mrs. Emma Gilbert, Mrs. Augusta Cunningham and Mrs. Jessie Childs, all of this city. There are 21 grandchildren and a horde of friends who mourn the death of a kind friend. The funeral services were conducted at the U.B. church by Rev. S. O.
