At his mothers’ residence in Marshall (unreadable). Mr. William Bartlett. Aged 35(?) years. William Bartlett has been cut off in the midst of life and usefulness. He leaves four small children and a large circle of relatives and friends. The mother of his children having died a number of years ago his death has now thrown four sweet children orphaned upon the world—but fortunately they are placed in the best of hands and will not want for anything except a father and a mother’s love. William Bartlett had passed from earth without leaving an enemy behind. No man ever lived in any community whose loss was more sincerely deplored than the subject of this sketch. He was prompt in all his contracts, attended to his own business and was always ready to give aid to the needy. He was liberal, generous and kind. Studiously avoiding to give offence to any. In a word he was a model husband, father and citizen. No (unreadable) a character that the best might well envy. His memory will ever remain green in the hearts of all who knew him.
