Burkett 18 July 1934, Clark County (IL) Democrat George F. Burkett, son of Garrett and Amelia Burkett, was born in Auburn Township, January 27, 1874. He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Bryan July 3, 1895. To this union were born six children: Goldie, Clifford, Mary, Linnie, Ralph, and Alice. Clifford preceded him in death September 5, 1898. In 1910 he united with the Five Points Christian Church during a meeting held by the Rev. Haase. He spend his entire life in Clark County and was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He departed this life July 12, 1934, aged 60 years, 5 months and 15 days. In his death the wife and children lose a loving and devoted companion and father. He leaves to mourn his departure his wife, five children, Mrs. Goldie Morgan, Mrs. Mary Hutchings, Mrs. Linnie Morgan, Ralph Burkett and Mrs. Alice Bender. He leaves three brothers, James and William of this vicinity and Elisha of Joplin, Mo, three sisters, Mrs. Mary Norris of Elnora, Ind., Mrs. Vina Blunk of Chicaco, and Mrs. Emma Blunk of Martinsville, also nine grandchildren, besides many other relatives and friends.
