Rev. C. H. Barnes officiated with burial in the Richwood cemetery. Nathaniel Harrison Byrd, whose death was the result of being overcome by heat during the past summer, was born February 23, 1861, in Clay county, Illinois, the son of Nathaniel Harrison and Sally Ann Boatright Byrd. On September 8, 1887, he was married to Stella Wilhoit of Kansas who survives with one son, Arlie of Woodriver, Ill, a daughter died in infancy. Also surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Sally Flenner of Martinsville, Mrs. Ella Kinnell of Mattoon and Mrs. Nan Davis of Belleville, Kans. Mr. Byrd had spent the greater part of his life as a farmer near Westfield, moving to the city ten years ago. He was a member of the I. O. O. F. lodge at Martinsville.
